Thought I would share my last time with Glen--just a year ago. He was here for a class at DTS for a few weeks. I invited him to Smoky John's (barbecue place--every Tuesday they have a MOST unusual Bible study at the restaurant! Great black soul rock and roll, sometimes a sort-of healing session, folks just stand and speak--some from the street, but many from Fellowship and affluent churches. Very interesting crowd and H.S. has a heyday with it all.) I enjoy it immensely.

Anyway, Smoky John is really good at just being "led." So when I walked in with Glen, I introduced him to Smoky and told him that he and his wife were my friends from Dallas Seminary in the 1970's. Told him basically what he was doing--Glen picked up on it and gave him details. So when it came time for someone to preach, Smoky called him out. Glen got up, preached for 50 minutes about grace--the freedom he had found from law. It was one of the best talks EVER. People loved him; still mention him to me.

But the most profound to me was that he said he and Joy would never return to the U.S. (as I recall, she had already left to go ahead of him to get the house fixed up; he was joining her after the class at Seminary was over. ??) Anyway, in the parking lot at Smoky's, he told me he would never see me again as we hugged goodbye. I said something like--"oh, you know me, Glen, I will probably show up at your door in Thailand." He said that would be great--to come on over--but "if not, see ya' in Heaven." So it seems--that is what it will be.
