Navy Chaplaincy - Dan Klender

1992 - 2004

Shortly after my wife and I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1992 to pastor Fellowship Bible Church. Some of the members spoke effusively about a dynamic Bible teacher and man of God named Glen Riddle. When I met Glen I discovered him to be a bundle of enthusiasm and energy. His incandescent zeal and love for Christ and His kingdom was immediately apparent.

In spite of his many responsibilities, he had time for lunch and to encourage me to pursue Navy Chaplaincy. During my four years in Albuquerque he planted the seed of serving the U.S. Navy that germinated, grew and blossomed into fruition in 2001. We brought Glen to speak at the church I was pastoring in Walla Walla, WA. 2 weeks before 9/11 occurred. During his 5 day visit Glen answered all my questions and sealed the deal.

I was commissioned as a reserve Navy in 2002 and resigned my pastorate to assess to active duty status in 2007. This wouldn't not have happened apart from Glen's influence. Currently I am on around the world deployment on one of nation's warships due to Glen's influence. Thanks to Glen's willingness to tirelessly serve Christ I have been able to bring the gospel and the Word of God to Sailors and Marines for the last 13 years.

Thanks also to Glen I have a different theological perspective than I did when I graduated from seminary in 1992. Glen was a champion of grace! Free grace just as one of his favorite biblical authors the Apostle Paul!

Thank you brother Glen you will be sorely missed. I relish the day I will see you in heaven again.
